Promotion Manager: Ability to exclude a "category" for a promotion
Instead of having to select all the categories you want a promotion to apply for, it would be nice to have a secondary box that allows you to select the categories you don't want it to apply for. This would really help as many of our customers have hundreds of categories, and selecting each one just to not allow a few categories takes forever. I know there is a workaround with excluding Manufacturers where you can create a new one and assign all those products to that, but it starts getting messy.
Yes this needs to be changed ....
I have a similar problem to this because I do sales on specific manufacturers and their products are in different categories. Anytime I add a manufacturer I have to go back to my promotions and manually add the new manufacturer to all of them. For both the "Category" and "Manufacturer" settings, it would be perfect there was a "apply to" option and not just "exclude" for manufacturers. Worst case you could display these as check boxes and add a "select all" (and deselect all) option. That way I could select them all then deselect the one I want to promotion to run for.
Brooke, I cannot create a "fake" Manufacturer. This will confuse our consumers and I don't feel I need to do things like this to have the system work.

Would also like to see the option to Exclude just specific products. Also on the feature to include certain products, why is there only the option of 4 items. I run a promotion call Made in the USA. and not all of those items are in certain categories and since you can only include 4 items you can't do it that way either. I had to go create a hidden category and move those items into it. Not easy at all. Very time consuming. Our old web platform let us include as many items as needed and or categories. And for our Free Shipping we have around 20 items that we exclude and since you don;t have an exclude option I had to create a Manufacture and move those items into there in order to exclude those items. Again not easy, and now my products can;t be advertised or linked with the correct Manufacture. This also makes price updating more difficult since they are in the wrong manufacture.
I agree with this one. I am running into that issue right now.
And the ability just exclude individual products from any promotions.
YES! It's such a hassle to have to change the manufacturer of the products that aren't on sale, or do some other kind of work around to prevent customers from getting discounts on items that aren't on sale in a category, every time we have a promotion.
