"NEW" tag for items
Having the ability to choose "NEW" just like "on sale" for products and a little NEW tag to highlight the item to customers! Thanks!

So I have a workaround which is a bit clunky but it works until 3dcart gets off the yacht and decides to implement this. Create a category called NEW ITEMS and feature the link to the NEW ITEMS cat prominently like I have done at our site ancfirst.com (at the top). Then you can move new items in and out of the category as you see fit. It's not the actual great suggestion that started this thread but I have found out through log reports that people love to know what's new.
Also you can link directly to the NEW ITEMS category from your constant contact and you will see good traffic going into that cat.

Such a simple great idea that allready exists on all of the competing ecommerce platforms.. but not here sadly.
Great idea, include the ability to set a date range.

I love this idea. I also love being able to either program in an "end" date for the "new" tag, so that I don't have to manually do it.
This would be a great feature if implemented like David describes.
That would be nice.... and since each product uses the "Available Date" in its Advanced Tab, there can be a place where you can enable the "NEW" tag and add an "end" date for the "NEW" tag, based on the "Available Date" in the Advanced Tab.
For instance, if the "Available Date" on a product is 6/22/2015, you can enable the "NEW" tag option and put an "END" date like 8/22/2015 and the product would display the "NEW" icon for 2 months and then automatically disable (or be removed by the system) on 8/23/2015, therefore, leaving it maintenance free for the merchant.
Because just having an option/box to check and uncheck to display the "NEW" icon, it will still need to be watched by the merchant or you'll have a bunch of old items still with a "NEW" icon if you're not keeping an eye on how long you enable the "NEW" tag.
I've been thinking of suggesting this for a little while. Glad others could use it as well. :)
